Preventing family violence

Preventing family violence

Family violence is the most common form of violence experienced by Australian women and is a significant proportion of overall crime.  'Law and order' policies have a disproportionate focus on public transport and street crime which diverts funding for family violence prevention strategies which could in turn reduce the overall rate of crime. The key to stopping family violence is increased investment in evidence-based prevention, early intervention and support.
